Poetry Appreciation Class
The need to prepare students in approaching 'unseen
poetry' in both primary school (11+) and secondary school
(GCSE) has become an important aspect of examination
technique. We have developed classes in which students
will be taught to:
Identify the structure, rhythm and style of a poem
Learn to use poetic devises
Learn how to analyse a poem
Identify themes and understand the inferred meaning of a poem
Structure a written commentary and analysis of a poem
A valuable class which will give students a wider appreciation
of poetry and develop their repertoire and enhance their
ability to read aloud.
Age:
8 and 9 years: Thursday 4pm - 5pm
10 and 11 years: Thursday 5pm - 6pm
12 and 13 years: Monday 4pm - 5pm
14, 15 and 16 years: Monday 5pm - 6pm

Duration: 1 hour, Once a week
